Bladder dysfunction
Bladder dysfunction refers to problems in the filling and / or emptying of the bladder.
Bladder dysfunction is the result of disturbances in the normal evacuation process due to any alteration of the nerve connections of the bladder. Bladder compliance or storage capacity, detrusor muscle function, or bladder structure may be affected. These disorders can be related to neurogenic, anatomical or functional causes.
There may be symptoms such as an increase in the number of times the child goes to the bathroom to urinate, urinary urgency, the need to urinate at night, involuntary leakage of urine during the day or at night, difficulty starting urination, weak or intermittent, among others.
For the diagnosis it is necessary to perform imaging studies, cystoscopy and / or urodynamic tests. Treatment may include catheterization or measures to induce urination.
